This notice explains what Fluent stores about you, why, who helps us run the service, and how to download or delete your data. The short version: we keep what we need to run your account and your lessons, we don't sell it, and you can delete it all in one step.

1. Who is responsible

{{legal entity}}, {{business address}}, is responsible for your data (the "controller", in data-protection law). Contact: hello@aifluentiv.com.

2. What we store

Before you have an account. When you answer the questions on the Start page, your answers are kept in your browser on your own device (in "local storage"). They aren't sent to us until you tap "Save my plan". Then we hold them with a one-time code until you open your sign-in link. Unused answers are deleted after {{pending expiry}}.

Your account

  • your email address
  • sign-in records kept by our database provider for security, such as when you last signed in

Your profile

  • your answers to up to 15 questions (for example your first name, job, town, and a task that takes up your week)
  • your display name and public handle, if you choose them
  • your time zone, read from your device, so we can count your streak days
  • whether your public page is on or off

Your progress

  • which days you've opened and finished, and when
  • your answer to each day's quick check
  • what you typed into the Day 30 blanks
  • your streak

Your show-offs (only if you upload them)

  • the picture or video file, its caption, and whether it's public or private

Payments and membership

  • your Stripe customer number, your plan (monthly or yearly), its price, your trial end date, your next renewal date, whether it's cancelled, and each payment's amount, date and whether it was refunded
  • Stripe holds your card details. We never see or store your card number.

Emails we send you

  • which email we sent and when, and the delivery service's reference number. Your address is stored in this log only in a scrambled form (a "hash") that can't be read back.

How the service is used

  • simple events such as "opened Day 4" or "copied a prompt", linked to your account, or to a random number before you sign in. We use them to see where people get stuck and to fix it.
  • page views and loading speed, measured by our hosting provider's analytics.

Security records

  • counts of sign-in link requests per email address and per internet address (IP address), kept for a short time to stop abuse.
  • error logs at our hosting provider, which can include your IP address.

We don't ask for, and you shouldn't give us, passwords to other services, card numbers, ID numbers or health information.

3. What we don't store

  • Your accounts with the AI tools, or anything you make or paste inside them. You sign up to ChatGPT, Gamma and the others yourself. What you give those tools goes to them, under their own privacy policies, not to us.
  • Your card number.
  • Anything from your device beyond what's listed above.

5. Who helps us run Fluent

These companies process data for us, under contracts that only let them use it to provide their service to us:

CompanyWhat it does for usWhere
SupabaseDatabase, sign-in and file storage (your profile, progress and show-offs)United States (us-east-1)
StripePayments, receipts and card detailsGlobal; see Stripe's privacy policy
ResendSending our emails, and receiving mail to hello@aifluentiv.comUnited States (us-east-1)
VercelHosting the website, error logs, page-view and speed analyticsUnited States (iad1) and Vercel's global network

If day videos are embedded from YouTube or Vimeo, that company receives your IP address when you play a video, under its own privacy policy.

We don't sell your data. We don't share it with advertisers. We don't send it to the AI tools.

6. Moving data between countries

Our providers store data in the United States. When data about people in the UK or the EU goes there, we rely on {{transfer mechanism}} to protect it.

7. How long we keep it

  • Your account, answers, progress and show-offs: until you delete your account, or delete an answer or a show-off yourself.
  • Answers saved before you signed in: deleted after {{pending expiry}} if you never open your link.
  • Payment records: Stripe keeps its own record of every payment for as long as the law requires. {{our payment retention}}
  • Email log: {{email log retention}}
  • Security and error logs: for a short time, per our providers' settings. {{log retention}}

8. Your rights

You can, at any time:

  • see and download your data: Settings → Your data → Download my data. You get one file in JSON, a plain-text format other apps can read.
  • correct it: Settings → Profile. Every answer can be changed or cleared.
  • delete it: Settings → Your data → Delete my account. Your account, answers, progress, show-offs and public page are deleted in one step, and your membership is cancelled in the same step.
  • object to our use of it, or ask us to restrict it.
  • take back consent, for example to reminder emails, in Settings.

For anything you can't do in Settings, email hello@aifluentiv.com from the address on your account. We'll reply within one month. It's free.

If you're unhappy with how we've handled your data, you can complain to your data-protection authority, for example the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) in the UK, or the authority in your EU country. We'd like the chance to put it right first.

9. Cookies and local storage

  • A sign-in cookie, set by our database provider, keeps you signed in. It's needed for the site to work.
  • Local storage on your device keeps your Start-page answers before you save your plan, and small settings such as a hint you dismissed.
  • We don't use advertising cookies or tracking pixels.

10. Your public page

Your public page is off by default. If you switch it on, anyone with its link can see your display name, how many days you've done, and the show-offs you've marked public. It never shows your email or your answers. Switch it off in Settings and it disappears.

11. Children

Fluent is for people aged 18 and over. We don't knowingly collect data from children. If you think a child has made an account, email hello@aifluentiv.com and we'll delete it.

12. Keeping it safe

Our database is set up so each person can read only their own rows. Show-off files are private unless you choose otherwise, and public ones are served through links that expire. Data travels encrypted. Our team doesn't read your answers unless you ask us to help with something.

13. Changes

If we change this notice, we'll update the date at the top. If a change affects how we use your data, we'll email you first.
